ONESTEP is pleased to award a prize to Operation 40+, a program of the Employment and Education Resource Centre of Cornwall and District (EERC), for the story described in detail below.

Operation 40+ is a program of the Employment and Education Resource Centre of Cornwall and District (EERC). The program serves unemployed individuals, 40 years of age and older. Human Resources Development Canada and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities fund the program.
Operation 40+ needed a way to advocate on behalf of older workers. As an alternative to mailing or faxing resumes to employers, staff developed a database so employers could access a continuously updated database of currently available workers, classified by occupation categories. Via the EERC website, employers can browse a set of profiles which represent diversified talents and significant experience to meet their human resources requirements.
This is a great way to advocate on behalf of disadvantaged workers says Program Coordinator Henri Motard. Older workers are getting jobs. Clients are able to market their skills with a large pool of employers. The client network has been expanded.
Program participants are involved in the management of the database in three ways. They collate information and prepare paper-based packages for hand delivery to employers. They verify and update employer information. And once a year, they participate in an employer survey.
